Overview
Our Religious Education program will give your child a joyful and enthusiastic experience of God and Jesus. Children will continually learn and grow in their own faith journey and will be provided various ways to explore how Jesus taught us about loving others unconditionally and what being a disciple in their own lives means. Our program provides children many opportunities to connect with the faith community through weekly Sunday morning classes which include; scripture lessons, singing, dancing, discussions, service projects and even yoga/meditation are all part of our weekly programming! We also offer fun socials, family liturgies, retreats, Camp Spiritus and the Nativity Play outside of the Religious Ed weekly meetings just to name a few! We are confident your child will feel safe, loved and feel right at home with our Religious Education family!
WISH LIST
The RE team has created a wish list of some items we would love to add to our classrooms to revamp them. If you would like to donate a new item for one of our classrooms, just click on the link below. We appreciate anything you can do!
Our Religious Education classes follow the Sunday scripture message, and are customized to each grade level. Through lessons and activities, children connect to their own lives (family, friends, school or other life situations children are faced with). These weekly messages focus on God’s Word -- through these lessons, children are guided on how to apply it to their everyday experiences. We explore these messages through bible stories, lessons, crafts, discussions, singing, dancing, role playing, service projects and much more!
Nativity Play
Our Nativity Play offers a fun, yet beautiful experience of retelling the story of Jesus’ birth. Each year, our Nativity Play is a little different. Along with telling this important story in our faith, we tie in current events our world today is facing to intertwine those experiences and the promise of God’s gift to us forever. There is a place for every child in our play; whether its being a speaking part, dancing, singing, shining like a star or baa’ing like a sheep there will always be a place for every child!
Camp Spiritus
Our summer program is a week long, and provides your child with a different themed message each year! Our camp includes Bible stories and connections, crafts, dancing, singing and fun games!
Family Liturgies
Our Family Liturgies provide an experience numerous times throughout the year for your family to be part of a mass adhered just for families, children and our youth. It is a great way to connect spiritually as a family, be part of the mass celebration and even get to know other families at Spiritus. Masses are followed by pot luck dinners and special coffee hours with yummy treats and great conversation!
Special Events
Throughout the year, we provide experiences such as Family Game Nights, Ice Skating, family retreats, movie day, Playground and Prayer and parent workshops that will give you opportunities to explore your own faith as a parent.
If you would like to have your child participate in our Religious Ed program or have any questions please contact our Religious Education Director Siobhan Potter.
