Grace of God Recovery House

Grace of God Recovery House is a safe home for men recovering from alcoholism and drug addictions. Located at 120 Franklin St in downtown Rochester, it houses up to four men at a time. Residents stay in this supportive structured environment until they are ready to move on to a halfway house or independent living. Prison Outreach

The Spiritus Christi Prison Outreach (SCPO) is the only program in Monroe County offering residential wraparound support to individuals re-entering the community from institutions like jail, prison, and treatment centers. Since 1981, a robust network of peers and supporters has formed, providing an invaluable backbone to the suite of programs offered in our variety of residences. Spiritus Anti-Racism Coalition (SPARC)

SPARC is a coalition of parishioners, community activists, youth and concerned citizens. We come together in the spirit and wisdom of Dr. King, Malcolm X, Maya Angelou, Margaret Mead, Nelson Mandela, Audre Lorde, Gandhi, and Rosa Parks to end racism in our community. The Chiapas Mission at Spiritus Christi is for anyone who wants to walk in solidarity with families and organizations that represent and strive for social and economic justice around the world. H.O.P.E./Haiti

BACKGROUND Our outreach to Borgne, Haiti began in 1995 when Joseph Pierre, a Corpus Christi parishioner, asked the parish to consider an outreach to his hometown. Prior to that, Corpus Christi had a twenty-year history of giving money to Sister Isabel, a sister who worked in Cite Soleil, a slum in Port-au-Prince. Spiritus Christi’s Buddy Readers Ministry pairs adult volunteers with young students to instill a love of reading and provide opportunities to practice becoming more fluent readers.

Caring Connection

Our volunteer team helps to meet the diverse needs of our fellow parishioners at Spiritus Christi. The group is separated into four sub-groups to help meet these needs: The Communications Team: Provides encouragement and comfort through visitations to parishioners’ homes, sending emails, sending cards, and making phone calls during times of transition (i.e., medical issues, stressful/tragic circumstance/loss) Communion at Home Team: Provides Communion in the home of parishioners who cannot make it to church. ADOPT-A-FAMILY

Last year, Spiritus parishioners and friends helped an unprecedented number of families — 172 in total! — enjoy a Thanksgiving meal and give presents to their children at Christmas. The outpouring of generosity was a beautiful thing to behold, as was the gratitude expressed. This year, we have been able to distribute Thanksgiving gift cards to over 100 families!
