My name is Jim Smith. My work at Spiritus Christi is to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the operations of the Spiritus Christi Prison Outreach. My work in the prison ministry is an expression of my faith. I feel so fortunate to have been called to work that requires me to spend time in the depths of my being where I am in touch with God. To be around men and women who so courageously work to change their lives and heal from deep wounds inspires me to work on my own life. Years ago I came to Corpus Christi seeking fellowship, support and guidance, as I desired to live my newfound Christianity. I found that people were not only preaching the gospel but were living the gospel. I knew this was the place for me. I was hoping and praying that God would hear my prayer and guide me in my life’s course. God answered my prayer through a meaningful vocation and exciting opportunity at the Prison Outreach. Early on I meet Julie Augsbury at a church meeting, she became my boss and latter my wife. We have three beautiful, young adult children, Hannah, Nathan, and Rachel. Spiritus Christi is my spiritual home where I am continually inspired and renewed.
